![]() There was once an upstairs storey to the castle but now the staircase is missing. Only one room still has all of its walls and roof, with a fireplace and slits for windows. It is built of white stones, and once had two towers although one is almost completely gone, and the other has jackdaws nesting in it. The ruins of Kirrin Castle stand on a low hill in the centre of the island. They have many adventures in Kirrin Island It is the "Treasure Island" which they explore in Five on a Treasure Island. ![]() The Famous Five love spending time on Kirrin Island, rowing out to it during their holidays. ![]() It is surrounded by sharp rocks, but has a sandy cove which acts as a natural harbour for boats. Wildlife on the island includes many tame rabbits, cormorants, and gulls. ![]() Quentin Kirrin sometimes performs scientific experiments on the island. ![]() On the island there are the ruins of Kirrin Castle and the shipwreck of George's great-great-great grandfather's ship. However, George usually tells people that it is her island, or is jointly owned by the Famous Five. It is owned by George Kirrin's family and is promised to pass to her once she is an adult.
